Vastu for residential construction – tips, directions and guidelines
Here are some key Vastu tips to consider when planning or constructing a residential home

Plot Selection & Shape
- Shape: Prefer square or rectangular plots.
- Slope: The plot should slope from south to north or west to east for better energy flow.
- Roads: A plot with roads on the north or east side is considered auspicious.
Entrance
- The main entrance should ideally be in the north- east, east, or north direction.
- Avoid south- west entrances as they are considered inauspicious.
Room Placement
- Living Room: North or east direction.
- Master Bedroom: South- west for stability.
- Children’s Room: West or north- west.
- Kitchen: South- east is ideal; avoid north- east.
- Bathroom/Toilets: North- west or west, not in north- east or south- west.
- Pooja Room (Prayer Room): North- east corner of the house.
Staircase
Should be built in the south- west, south, or west. Avoid north- east staircase.
Water Tanks
- Overhead Tank: South- west direction.
- Underground Water Tank/Borewell: North- east is ideal.
Windows and Ventilation
Ensure plenty of natural light and ventilation, especially from the east and north.
